Yamai devi or Shree Yamai devi temple is located in a hill composite in the town of Aundh, District of Satara, an Indian state of Maharashtra. To reach at the top of the hill, the stepladders are there to take you. To reach the top by car, quite an unsafe road can also be used. But usually it is avoided.
The image of Goddess Mahishasur Mardini Yamai is about 2 meters high and in black stone. This temple is considered as the family unit shrine (kuldaiwat) and mostly for Marathi families who come here in flock. The Shri Bhavani Museum houses had been established in the complex of temple from the personal collection of the Maharajas of Aundh.
The museum contains the nice paintings by Baburao Painter, Raja Ravi Varma, Rao bahadur Dhurandhar, Baburao Painter, Pt. S. D. Satavalekar and a beautiful sculpture by British artist, named Henry Moore.
